Information is Easy to Find - Good Information is Much More Elusive

The Lens Guru project grew from my personal frustration in locating a central place on the Web to search for Progressive Addition Lenses. There is so much out there and each of us only knows a fraction of the lenses available to us. Finding the information is time-consuming and frustrating. And worse, much of the information out there is contradictory. A significant part of this project involved checking and rechecking available information and sorting out what is correct.

This is a totally independent project. I am not employed by, nor have any other affiliation with any lens or frame manufacturer or other entity in the optical industry. I am a dispensing optician and have been most of my life. In 2004 I reentered opticianry after an eight year absence. I was amazed at the choices in the PAL category and how difficult - impossible actually - it was to find a single place to get the information. I started gathering the data and storing it. There are currently over 1000 lenses being searched on this site.

Information for this site is gathered through independent research and with cooperation from major lens manufacturers. Each lens listed is a best-effort result of painstaking research and I think you'll find it to be very accurate and current.

I have designed TheLensGuru.com to function in a way that seems practical and easy to use to me. If you find it difficult to use or have any other suggestions of how it could be better, I would really like to hear your ideas of how it could be improved. Many people have written me with suggestions and information I may have missed. I answer all email daily and am able to alter specs and design in a matter of hours. Feel free to email me at tony@TheLensGuru.com with any questions, comments or suggestions you may have. I generally answer mail daily.
